Breaking Benjamin is an American rock band from Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, consisting of Benjamin Burnley, Aaron Fink, Mark Klepaski and Chad Szeliga. Dear Agony is the fourth studio album by rock band Breaking Benjamin. The lineup consisted of Ben on vocals and guitar, Jeremy behind the kit, and Jason Davoli on bass. It was released on September 29, 2009. This is the last album to contain work from all featured band members except Ben Burnley due to the legal issues between Burnley and the two members Aaron Fink and Mark Klepaski during 2011, and drummer Chad Szeliga departing in 2013 over creative differences. The group is currently on hiatus due to frontman Benjamin Burnley's recurring illnesses and is unable to tour for the time being.
The fourth album from the Wilkes-Barre-based quartet is rife with Twilight-inspired imagery, lots of love gone eternally wrong, lifetimes of loner-ness and general gloom. Frontman Benjamin Burnley furthers his lyrical foray of the perpetual breakup. At the end of the performance, Ben knocked over and cracked a microphone he had borrowed. Eventually Ben wanted to try something different and went out to California to try some new material. Dear Agony is trimmed with all the winning trappings of Breaking Benjamin's former works: wind-up verses expressing the dire agony of forever troubled romance leading up to detonating choruses of cathartic explosions. Melancholic melodies do head-to-head battles with heavy, grungy rock riffs — sometimes winning and sometimes losing. Originally the band was a 3-piece.
In 1998, Burnley and current lead guitarist Aaron Fink, got together along with Nick Hoover and Chris Lightcap and started the band Breaking Benjamin. A Best Buy edition, Japanese import version, and Zune exclusive version were also released, all of which feature bonus content. The sentiments are delivered, however, with a defiance that is undoubtedly irresistible to girls who like their boys conflicted, or the other way around. . . .
